CGCT Awards are conferred to researchers based on their impact and strong research track record in the area of crystal growth and crystal technologies. The successful researcher must have consistently achieved peaks of research excellence over a period of time and should be recognized by the community of crystal growth and crystal technology as having achieved significant breakthroughs or outstanding accomplishments in the field. The Awards are classified as the following 3 categories:
(1) CGCT Outstanding Scientist Award
To recognize and honour an individual who made significant contributions to the advance in basic Crystal Growth Science, through technical achievements, publications and presentations and through their impact worldwide on science and technology.
or significant fundamental (not necessarily theoretical) contributions to the field of crystal growth. The IOCG Laudise prize is presented for significant technological (not necessarily experimental) contributions to the field of crystal growth. Both awards are made for outstanding contributions to the field of crystal growth
(2) CGCT Outstanding Engineer Award
To recognize and honour an individual who made significant contributions to the development of Crystal Technologies, through technical achievements, publications and presentations and through their impact worldwide on science and technology
(3) CGCT Outstanding Explorer Award
To recognize and honour an individual who made significant contributions to the exploration of the new frontiers and directions in the fields of Crystal Growth and Crystal Technology, through technical achievements, publications and presentations and through their impact worldwide on science and technology.
Nature of the Awards
Each Award consists of a trophy and a certificate citing the contributions made by the recipient, awarded in the CGCT conference. The Awards are conferred to three individuals every 3 years during the CGCT conference.
The criteria for selection should be scientific excellence, and impact on the field of crystal growth and crystal technologies. Scientists of all nations, regardless of the geographical or employment location at which the work was done, are eligible.
Nomination and Selection
a) Selection committee: CGCT will found a committee in charge of the prize winners’ selection and administration The composition of committee should consist of members from different member states and represent various areas of crystal science and technology. The committee normally includes the previous recipients of CGCT Awards.
b) The role of the committee shall be responsible for solicitation of nominations and selection of the winners.
c) Guidelines for nominations:
The nominator should submit a nomination letter (maximum two pages) which clearly states the significant fundamental (CGCT Outstanding Scientist Award) or technological (CGCT Outstanding Engineer Award) contributions of the nominee to the field of crystal growth. The nomination for the Outstanding Explorer Award should be given to the person who has made significant contributions to explore the new areas of crystallization. The nomination should be for either the Outstanding Scientist Prize or the Outstanding Engineer Prize or the Outstanding Explorer Prize. Prizes cannot accept self-nomination.
The nomination has to submit to the Chairman of the Selection Committee, accompanied by a brief CV, list of publications, patents, honors etc. of the nominee. Supporting letters by up-to two well-known crystal growers are welcome but not mandatory.
Deadline for submission of the nomination for CGCT-7 Prizes is August 15, 2017.
The Chairman of Selection Committee is Prof Jiyang Wang (China, email: firstname.lastname@example.org).
The funds to support these awards should be raised by the CGCT conferences, ie. registration fees, various sponsorship, etc.
